Family of Housing
Many of the
actors who perform in the outstanding shows created by Sierra Rep need local
housing. These stars come from across the country to perform for you.
Sierra
Rep’s Host a Star program finds local residents with a spare room
to host visiting performers for the duration of each play.
While many
families currently participate as hosts, we are in need of additional
participants in Columbia, Sonora and Jamestown. In any given year, Sierra
Repertory attracts more than 150 artists to Tuolumne County.
Over half
of these artists need local housing throughout the year, including several weeks
when we have nearly 50 artists in town at once!
Becoming a Host
(for more information, please email
lsweetland@sierrarep.org)
o
You can
participate by providing a bedroom and private or semi-private bath for a Sierra
Rep star. Their needs are simple:
-
A private bedroom (linens included)
-
Private or semi-private access to a bathroom with shower.
-
Space in the kitchen and a cupboard for the artist to keep some
food items. (Note: it is not necessary to provide meals.)
-
Parking space.
-
A desire to help an artist further his or her career in
professional theatre.
The artists take care of
everything else!
Other
Considerations:
·
The artists arrive
approximately 3 weeks before opening night and return home the day after
closing. However, if you would rather host for a shorter time, please email us.
·
Our artists are
responsible for their own food and transportation.
·
It is not
necessary for you to be home to host a star as they can house-sit while you
travel.
·
Performers’ hours
are long, usually starting in the afternoon and going late into the night. Many,
also, return to their own homes on their days off.
·
They can be a
great comfort to those who live alone. A young person in the house, even
occasionally, can provide companionship.
·
You
help Sierra Repertory Theatre bring quality entertainment to Tuolumne County.
